Introduction A burn is a type of injury or damage to the skin or other tissues, caused generally by factors like heat, cold, electricity, chemicals, or radiation. Most burns occur primarily due to heat from hot solids, liquids, or fire. The fire caused by unsafe cooking is one of the most common causes of these injuries in the household . Burns can be broadly categorized into three types based on the layer of skin affected. First-degree burns occur when only the superficial layer of the skin is affected. Their primary symptoms are red skin without blisters. However, when the injury extends into some of the underlying skin layers, it is a partial-thickness or second-degree burn. Blisters are frequent and very painful. Third- and fourth-degree burns involve damage to all layers of skin. Treatment varies with the severity of the burn wounds. Superficial burns can be managed with little more than pain medications and local application, whereas, severe burns require prolonged treatment. Individuals suffering from harsh burns indicate discomfort and often complain of feeling pressure and severe pain. This can interfere with daily activities and the patient is bound to take complete rest in a closed cool environment. Burn cases are usually accidental and require healing from within as well as topical applications. Here, the immune system of the body plays a major role by protecting cells from invasion by microorganisms. To support the humoral and cell-mediated immune system of the burnt patient, measures need to be taken to decrease edema and promote angiogenesis in areas of partial-thickness injury. Conventional medicines can help in the meticulous treatment of the wound to prevent infection and promote healing by using antibiotics and maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance and temperature of the body. With the help of Sujok therapy, burn cases can be treated successfully and the need for modern medicines can be limited. This case, once again, establishes the efficacy of Sujok treatment. Case Report This is a case of a patient named Mrs. X, aged 63 years, with a major complaint of severe burns on the face, neck area, and both arms and hands. She got burnt by malfunctioning of the pipe of the cooking stove. She complained of severe pain and a feeling of hotness in her burnt skin. When we visited her place after a day of injury, she had already visited the local hospital and had applied the topical medication. However, the heat from the body was intolerable for her despite using the medications prescribed by the doctors. She wanted immediate relief from her burning sensation. Materials and Methods The patient was treated at her home to prevent direct contact of her burns with sunlight or harsh weather. The materials employed for the treatment included micropore tape and pre-sterilized Sujok needles. Treatment In the first session, the patient was complaining of intense heat coming out of the exposed skin and pain in the affected areas. Her skin was completely black and some blisters were also appearing. Correspondence treatment was completely ruled out in her case as the probe, colors, and seeds could not be used. After the first sitting, the patient felt better and the burning sensation was 50% gone. Micropore tape was applied on her fingers where the skin was not burnt thoroughly and Six ki [2] and Triorigin [3] acupuncture was performed. An approach by Six ki at branch level: Large Intestine (LI) meridian – ↓III & ↓II & ↑VI & ↑V III-Hotness, II-Heat, VI-Coldness, V-Dryness An approach by Triorigin: (as seen in Tables 1 & 2). Table 1: Approach by Triorigin for Skin
Table 2: Approach by Triorigin for anti-microbial peptide
In the subsequent sessions, the feeling of hotness was diminished substantially but blisters kept appearing and rather became bigger. Then we switched to hetero- tonification of NKT cells and the patient felt well from subsequent sittings. Blisters were dried up and skin was healing. Since NKT cells interact with the innate and acquired immune system to display a significant role in both protecting and regulating the same [4], tonification of NKT cells of the immune system was performed (as seen in Table 3). Table 3: Approach by Triorigin for NKT cells
After around eighth sitting, skin creation order was performed for the new generation of skin. Since the hair of her eyebrows was also burnt, the creation of hair in the forehead region was also performed through Triorigin acupuncture (Table 4). Table 4: Approach by Triorigin for regrowth of hair
As the patient was feeling sad about her appearance, sadness was sedated (left hand) on an emotional level (Table 5). Table 5: Approach by Triorigin for sadness
The patient was advised to perform Smile Meditation during the treatment period. Results Following the first session; the patient reported a 50% reduction in hotness feeling and pain. In the subsequent sessions, the patient reported a complete reduction in hotness feeling and associated pain. After treating her for 13 sessions, we could see a new layer of skin regenerating and the patient was smiling with new growth of eyebrows, hair, and skin. Conclusion Sujok is a consistent and safe mode of treatment for burn cases. The combination of Six Ki and Triorigin along with Emotional treatment worked ideally. It can be safely administered either as individual therapy or jointly with conventional treatments like allopathy. Sujok’s efficiency can cure various illnesses and help all individuals. It is a revolutionary step towards the enhancement in the field of medicine. Indeed, Sujok therapy helped bring a smile to this patient. All credits to Prof. Park Jae Woo. Smile Thanks SJ T.
